MacPractice Guarantees Free ARRA Certified Upgrade to New Customers

Physicians Assured MacPractice EMR Compliance with New EHR/EMR Standards to Qualify for Government Incentives Once Final Rule is Established

Lincoln, NE, April 6, 2010 - MacPractice, the leading Apple developer of practice management and clinical software for medical and dental offices, today announced that as part of its plan to pursue certification to the federal government-s proposed Health Information Technology standards for electronic medical records/electronic health records (EMR/EHR), the company will provide a free upgrade to its newly certified version for new customers once certification is achieved.

MacPractice leverages Apple-s legendary ease of use, stability and low-cost maintenance to create affordable, intuitive and flexible Mac-native software for doctors.

The free upgrade will be available to all customers who purchase MacPractice EMR between now and the time certification is achieved. Per the current guidelines issued by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC), certain physicians who accept Medicare and demonstrate meaningful use of a certified EHR/EMR solution in 2010 could qualify for up to $44,000 in incentives through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). Incentive payments begin October 2011. More money is available to physicians who treat Medicaid patients, and a different payment schedule applies.

"The best reason for a doctor to purchase MacPractice EMR remains the same: to enhance office and personal productivity, reduce administrative cost and provide superior patient care," said Mark Hollis, president and co-founder of MacPractice. "However, we also want to assure new customers that they can count on MacPractice EMR to become a certified product as soon as that is possible."

Hollis notes that while no EMR/EHR provider can guarantee a doctor will use its software to successfully demonstrate meaningful use, anymore than a doctor can guarantee a patient will take their medication as prescribed, MacPractice guarantees that its EMR solution will be certified and new customers will be upgraded at no additional cost

"We continue to make enhancements to MacPractice EMR in order to meet the anticipated Final Rule for software certification and help physicians satisfy the evolving 'meaningful use- stipulation," Hollis said. "If there are no major surprises in the Final Rules promised in June, we plan to submit for certification immediately after finalization. For new customers, we will provide a money-back guarantee effective in the event that we are unable to provide a certified update within five months after Final Rules are published and certification begins."

For a limited time, MacPractice EMR pricing starts at $4,000 for three providers with annual EMR support and updates for just $600 per office, making MacPractice EMR one of the most affordable options in the industry. MacPractice practice management software is required.

MacPractice, which is currently used by some 3,000 practicing physicians, combines a state-of-the-art EHR/EMR solution with practice management tools in an easy-to-use, intuitive system that can improve patient care, efficiency and productivity.
