December 19, 2014, Lincoln, NE - MacPractice previewed MacPractice 5.1 at a December trade show. Many new and enhanced features will be delivered with MacPractice 20/20 5.1 in Q1 2015, with an emphasis on industry first, fully integrated, comprehensive, communications services for eye care professionals and their patients that is secure and HIPAA compliant.
The leading Mac OS native medical software, both current MacPractice 20/20 5.0 as well as forthcoming v.5.1, are compatible with Yosemite and Mavericks and interoperate with MacPractice's iOS 8 compatible Patient Check In, Clipboard, and iEHR Apps for iPad as well MacPractice Interface for iPad and MacPractice Interface for iPhone.
"We've studied the marketplace carefully and listened to our clients, and we believe that with v.5.1 we will offer our users the most tightly integrated complement of secure communications and online services at the lowest cost, some of which will be available exclusively to MacPractice users. We are going to release 5.1 a little differently. Early in Q1 we will offer 5.1 with new features and new services, so our clients can benefit from them immediately. Over the following few months we will 'flesh out' 5.1 with more online patient services and additional secure collaboration capabilities, providing for greater and greater functionality and higher levels of productivity," said Mark Hollis, MacPractice co-founder and CEO.
"MacPractice 20/20 makes it possible for patients to use iPads to enter their own data into their record and for doctors and assistants to review patient generated data, visit notes, photos and images with them. And with the introduction of MacPractice 5.1, doctors will be able to avoid expensive web services contracts. They can have superior online solutions at lower cost, with superior practice management software integration and support, and with functionality that can only be provided by their practice management and clinical software developer."
MacPractice's Scheduling and Imaging Abilities have been rewritten in v.5.1 to boost speed and performance in the office, especially for remote offices.
MacPractice 5.1 and earlier versions feature tightly integrated, certified ePrescribe (required of all New York providers March 27, 2015) for ALL substances, controlled and non-controlled. ePrescribe does not require the use of EHR, and the Rx Ability is free in MacPractice with an ePrescribe subscription.
With the introduction of MacPractice 5.1, MacPractice sets a new standard for integrated practice communications. Besides integrated faxing and secure messaging, MacPractice plans to provide every service available from third parties to its users at a lower cost, with tighter integration and greater security, in addition to web services not available to users of other products. Planned services for early 2015 are:
Avoid HIPAA penalties of up to $50,000 per incident (e.g. per single noncompliant email or text) in 2015, which is being called "The Year of Audits", by using HIPAA compliant, secure communication services offered in MacPractice software properly.
For practices that don't already have a web site, MacPractice even offers to host and create a one-page site for $10 monthly. MacPractice has added practice management reports requested by doctors and will continue to do so, at no additional cost to any user. MacPractice's preferred vendor for phone, text, and/or email patient reminders is AutoRemind, which is tightly integrated with MacPractice including automatic appointment status updates. MacPractice has partnered with Transworld to provide in-application collection services superior to those offered by a web service that cannot write back to MacPractice.
MacPractice 5 and 5.1 are ICD-10-capable (required of all providers October 2015), and feature government prescribed data security.
Purchasers of MacPractice 20/20 5 receive $500 off or $1000 off for an EHR "trade-up" until December 31, 2014! And a free upgrade to 5.1, of course.
