MacPractice was amongst the first to sign the EHR Developer Code of Conduct in June 2013. The Code offers principles for patient safety, technical innovation, and business integrity for EHR software developers.

The Electronic Health Record Association (EHRA), a HIMSS collaborative association of software vendors including MacPractice, has now updated the Code to Version 2, including more emphasis on usability, user-centered design (UCD), and usability best practices. Commitments to interoperability and data sharing now call for transparency of cost on all components required to achieve interoperability with renewed commitments to standards and information exchange.
