An Internet connection (cable or DSL preferred) is required to:

  • Initially download MacPractice software
  • Download MacPractice software updates
  • Activate your MacPractice software license
  • Reactivate MacPractice license each billing period
    (this does not require quitting MacPractice)
  • Activate software abilities
  • Update MacPractice
  • Communicate via email, iChat, or remote control with MacPractice administration, tech support or training department
  • Video conference with iSight; and access MacPractice QuickTime help movies

MacPractice data is stored in a MySQL database which is not backed up by Time Machine. MacPractice recommends you make at least one backup on an external volume at the end of every business day. A daily backup will help ensure you always have a good backup to revert to in the event of unforeseen circumstances, such as equipment theft, fire, natural disasters or hard drive/hardware failure.
